Humane Academy

Animal lovers ages 13 – 15 are invited to attend this unique two-day workshop where they will be introduced to the world of animal welfare and care here at WHS!
For kids who want to get involved with WHS but are too young to volunteer – attendees will work together on projects meant to enrich the lives of shelter animals as well as teaching them to understand animal body language and proper pet care. Through hands-on learning, guest speakers, and animal interactions, scholars will leave the WHS Humane Academy with a better understanding of the inner working of animal shelters and concrete ways they can help all animals in our community.
This is a two-day event – registration ($60) covers the cost of attending BOTH dates.
It is a requirement that long pants (or thick leggings/socks) and close-toed shoes must be worn to ensure safety interacting with animal guests. Vegetarian/vegan food/snacks will be provided. We do ask that attendees bring their own lunch (vegan/vegetarian preferred – peanut-free required).
Dates and locations:
Saturday, April 19th At Division St Shelter 10:00AM-4:00PM
Saturday, April 26th at Farm Facility 10:00AM-4:00PM
